The Field Electrical Inspector ensures the safety and health of occupants in Minnesota buildings through inspections, technical consultation, and enforcement of electrical codes and statutes. The role involves managing inspections for electrical installations, promoting high-quality standards, and collaborating with stakeholders.
- Conduct inspections for electrical installations ensuring compliance with the NEC and Minnesota Electrical Act.
- Provide technical support and consultation to promote safety standards in electrical construction practices.
- Manage office operations from which inspections are conducted and maintain availability for clientele.
- Assist with inspections of transitory projects and special events (carnivals, county fairs, movie sets, road projects).
- Administer statutes and rules related to electrical inspections and licensing.
- Support supervisors with additional duties to achieve division goals effectively.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Current Minnesota Class A Journeyworker or Master Electrician license.
- Knowledge of Minnesota Electrical Act, rules, regulations, and safety standards.
- Understanding of electrical theory, NEC, and construction/maintenance work.
- Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, and manufacturer instructions.
- Ability to inspect work, ensure compliance, and communicate effectively with diverse groups.
- Minnesota Class A Master Electrician license.
- Two-year technical college program in electrical construction/maintenance or equivalent experience.
- Experience planning, inspecting, and enforcing electrical standards.
- Experience managing projects with multiple employees or contractors.
- Knowledge of languages other than English (Somali, Spanish, Hmong, Karen, ASL).
- Salary: $34.18 - $50.69/hour; $71,368 - $105,841/year
